Overview
Werky is a community-focused volunteer matching platform created to replace fragmented legacy portals. The product bridges local non-profit organizations with prospective volunteers through transparent role requirements, verified organization listings, and intuitive discovery features. The goal was to establish a warm, editorial digital experience that reduces setup friction for organizers while making community opportunities instantly accessible to local residents.


Approach
Interactive Availability Matrix: Designed a dynamic $7 \times 3$ day-and-time scheduling grid with dual-mode support ("To be discussed" vs. "Specific days & times"), eliminating commitment ambiguity upfront.
Streamlined Publishing Architecture: Segmented the multi-step posting flow into clear, accessible input stages with contextual guidance and character limits.
Minimalist Editorial Visual Direction: Built a scalable design system using a soft cream foundation (
#FFFFEC), high-contrast accessible controls, subtle motion carousels, and atmospheric landscape artwork to keep the experience grounded and approachable.


Challenge
Traditional volunteer listings suffered from poor engagement due to ambiguous time commitments and dense, cluttered interfaces. Organizers frequently dealt with drop-offs and scheduling friction because vacancies lacked structured availability data. Additionally, non-technical community managers faced complex, confusing vacancy creation forms, resulting in incomplete listings and excessive administrative overhead.

Outcome
The resulting platform delivers an uncluttered, responsive web experience that simplifies volunteer onboarding and organization management. By structuring vacancy schedules visually and removing cognitive clutter across the discovery and creation flows, the platform significantly cuts down posting time and establishes a clear, scalable framework for regional community networks.
