Overview
In the booming DeFi / crypto space, decentralized exchanges (DEXs) are central plumbing for token swaps, liquidity, and yield. But many DEXs suffer from poor usability, high friction, and lack of clarity — especially for newcomers.
Moca aims to build a next-generation DEX platform that balances power and usability — enabling both crypto power users and beginners to securely swap, provide liquidity, and track metrics without getting lost in complexity.
Challenge
DeFi platforms are notoriously complex. Users face unclear flows, confusing approval steps, and almost no feedback when something goes wrong. Even experienced traders find themselves second-guessing basic actions.
Moca wanted to change that. The team’s mission was to make crypto trading approachable, transparent, and visually cohesive — something that builds trust instead of anxiety.
Approach
We started with a deep dive into the DEX landscape. Uniswap, PancakeSwap, and SushiSwap became our benchmarks — we dissected their flows, observed user behavior, and mapped friction points from swap initiation to confirmation.
From that insight, we rebuilt the entire experience from the user’s perspective. Each flow — Swap, Pool, and Dashboard — was simplified into a predictable and readable structure. Blockchain feedback and error states were rewritten in plain language, with visual cues that helped users understand what was happening in real time.
Outcome
Moca’s new interface shifted perception from technical to trustworthy. The modular design system supports rapid expansion for new features like governance and staking, without breaking the flow or visual identity.
Test users described the platform as “less risky” and “surprisingly easy,” a sharp contrast to the usual DEX feedback. The design delivered not just better usability but stronger confidence — the key currency in crypto.
